Wojciech Kudyba, born in Tomaszów Lubelski in 1965, is a poet, writer, and literary critic.  He is the author of three volumes of poetry, Tyszowce and Other Towns (Tyszowce i inne miasta, 2005), The Gorce of the Lord (Gorce Pana, 2007), and Father Is Changing (Ojciec siÄ™ amienia, 2011); three novels, My Name is Majdan (Nazywam siÄ™ Majdan, 2015), Immigrants Return Home (Imigranci wracaja do domu, 2018), and the PuÅ‚askis (PuÅ‚ascy, 2020-2021); and two volumes of short stories, The Tenement House (Kamienica, 2018), and And What Next? (I co dalej?, 2020).  He received several prestigious literary awards, among them the 2008 Józef Mackiewicz Literary Award and the 2021 Marek Nowakowski Literary award.  Finally the World, which contains ninety poems, is the first extensive translation of his work into English.

 

Michael J. MikoÅ›, a professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is the author of twenty books and over eighty articles, including a six-volume history and anthology of Polish Literature, and is a recipient of the PEN Club Prize.
